In the text cited, the soldier takes under his guardianship a boy who lost his mother in the war. This act of an outsider taught the young hero a lot, and he began to do good deeds, like the named father - took under protection the abandoned dog. That is what real people should do.
We see the same example in Sholokhov’s short story “The Fate of Man”. The hero lost his whole family in the war, but took an orphan to him to raise Vanya as his son. The child paid dad with the same love, because he understood what Andrei Sokolov had done for him. Describing the story of Andrei and Vani, the author talks about the humanity that helped our people to survive in the struggle.
Thus, humanity allows us to remain human beings even in inhuman conditions.
Life example: My aunt once noticed that a homeless person settled in the basement of the house. While everyone cursed at him and complained to the council, she talked to him and found out how to find his relatives. Once he lost their sight and could not find. Her searches were successful, and the man found a home and a family. For me, her act has become a model of behavior.
An example from experience: Once I saw a grandmother in a store who asked me to give her money for bread. I bought her bread and asked if she was paid a pension.
