Sometimes, after reading the work set by the teacher, we can still forget something important: this is how our memory works. The reason for this may be the usual excitement, which students are not so easy to deal with before an important lesson. In order to minimize such situations, pay attention to our brief retelling of the work of Anton Pavlovich Chekhov “The Chestnut” in chapters, which you will probably need in preparation for the literature lesson.
Chapter 1
A young dog, a cross between a dachshund and a mutt, got lost while walking with its owner, Luca Alexandrych. Luka worked as a carpenter, and his customers lived very far, so from time to time he had to go into some tavern and get some refreshment. Chestnut - that was the name of the dog, Luke took for a walk with him. The carpenter was very drunk by the evening.
While Luka Alexandrych was saying something to Kashtanka, music began to play loudly. It turned out that a regiment of soldiers was walking. The poor dog was very scared and rushed to another sidewalk right across the road. After the music ended, Kashtanka tried to find the owner where she left him, but his trace disappeared.
When it was already completely dark on the street, the dog leaned against someone’s porch and cried: she was very tired, frozen and insanely hungry.
Chapter 2
From the entrance to which Kashtanka snuggled up, a man appeared and accidentally brushed her door. After that, he felt sorry for the unfortunate, deciding to take her with him. The stranger brought the animal to his home, fed him heartily and put him to bed.
Despite the fact that the dog was warm and comfortable, she began to feel sad and remember her former strict owner, his house, his son Fedyushka, who scoffed at her in every way. She whined more and more melancholy and melancholy, until fatigue and warmth prevailed over melancholy, and she did not plunge into her dog's sleep.
Chapter 3
Waking up in the afternoon, Kashtanka examined the area, did not find anything interesting there and decided to enter another room, where, as it turned out, the stranger had slept yesterday. In his bedroom there was another door, into which a curious dog, of course, also entered.
It was a very small room with stained wallpaper, in which there was a cat named Fedor Timofeyich and a goose with a straightforward name Ivan Ivanovich. It is easy to guess that a fight broke out between them and the uninvited guest. However, the stranger came to the noise and immediately scolded his pets, then he caressed Kashtanka and called her a new name - Aunt. A little later, the guest already ate with Ivan Ivanitch from his own bowl. This was a clear sign that the animals had reconciled.
Chapter 4
After some time, the stranger again went into the room, holding in his hands a very unusual little thing, exactly the same as the letter P. On the crossbar of this P was a bell and a gun was attached, and small ropes were stretched from the bell tongue and from the trigger of the gun . With the help of this device, the goose Ivan Ivanovich showed various tricks, then another pig, Khavronya Ivanovna, and the cat Fedor Timofeyitch joined this performance. Together they performed such tricks that brought the dog into complete delight.
On the evening of the same day, Kashtanka was placed in a small room with stained wallpaper, and she spent the night in the circle of her new friends - a cat and a goose.
Chapter 5
Soon, the Kashtanka turned from an exhausted cur into a well-fed, sleek Aunt. After that, the new owner decided that it was time to teach her various tricks.
Within a month, Aunt could easily replace Fedor Timofeevich in the "Egyptian pyramid", and also perform a lot of different tricks. “Undoubted talent!” - so said her owner about Aunt now.
Chapter 6
Aunt was nervous all night and could hardly sleep a wink. The pig, the cat and the goose also could not sleep. The latter was especially ill: from time to time he screamed piercingly, and in general he behaved very strangely. Later, the owner remembered that in the afternoon, a horse stepped on poor Ivan Ivanovich ...
That night the goose died. Cat Fedor has never been so gloomy as then, Aunt was also very upset and spent the next morning whining under the sofa.
Chapter 7
One evening, the owner took Aunt and the cat with him to the circus. He decided that the dog would appear instead of the deceased Ivan Ivanovich, but during the performance it was noticed by the former owners - the carpenter and his son Fedyushka. They shout to her, calling her Kashtanka, and she joyfully runs to them.
After some time, Kashtanka was already walking along the street with her old masters, and her recent life in a small room now seemed to her a long, confused, heavy dream.
