Too many authors of texts to prepare for the exam in the Russian language raise the problem of labor and its importance for man and society. This question has many aspects that we tried to cover in this collection of arguments. Under each heading you will find the necessary literary examples for composition.
The importance of labor in human life
- For Matryona, the heroine A. Solzhenitsyn's story “Matrenin Dvor”, labor is the meaning of life. She constantly does something, helps relatives and friends. Unfortunately, her kindness is often used. Matrena constantly works for the collective farm, for neighbors, for acquaintances, and performs hard work without requiring money. Even the heroine dies, helping neighbors transport their own hut. In this regard to life, according to the author, the righteousness on which the whole world rests is concluded.
- Grigory Melekhov, hero novel M.A. Sholokhov "Quiet Don", forced to fight almost his whole life: The First World War, then the endless Civil War. He is drawn home, to the peaceful work of a plowman, to the earth. Labor is the basis of Gregory’s life, he feels the earth, nature, misses the creativity of all economic work (while in war there is only destruction). The desire to protect their land, their right to work on it and leads Melekhov in his throwing between the red and white.
Correct attitude to work
- Little hero of an autobiographical story V. Astafyeva “Horse with a pink mane” accustom to work since childhood. Grandmother gives her grandson a task: pick up berries for sale. The narrator, falling under the influence of friends, eats berries and goes with them to the river. And she gives her grandmother a tuesk stuffed with grass, with berries only on top (one of his friends advised). The hero is tormented by deception, which is revealed when selling berries. Grandmother shames and reveals her grandson, but still brings a present from the city, and the narrator remembers for life that he must work in good faith.
- Sergey Krylov, hero D. Granin’s novel “Going to a Thunderstorm”, worshiped science, scientific work for him is the meaning of life, and scientists are gods. In addition to continuous work, the hero does not need anything for happiness. Despite the failures in his career, Krylov does not give up and works, because the scientist’s work is special: he moves forward not only man, but also humanity. And so the hero even works on a closed topic in the name of science, and he is given permission to experiment.
High meaning of labor
- Eugene Onegin, the hero of the same name novel in verses by A.S. Pushkin, constantly bored and lives, as if out of habit. Out of boredom, he decided to pamper Olga, the beloved of his friend Vladimir Lensky, and Vladimir challenges Eugene to a duel, and then dies at his hands. And all this gloomy spleen, leading to disastrous consequences, does not stop because Yevgeny has no business in which he will be engaged. Without labor, life is dull and does not bring satisfaction.
- Hero of the story V. Rasputin "Red Day" I’m used to working from childhood, because no one else could help my mother except children. Work for him is a necessity that he perceives as ordinary. After the boy dragged water to the bathhouse instead of the bathhouse mother, and did it secretly so that she could not refuse help, the mother burst into tears, appreciating this act. It is precisely such people who, from childhood on, have been able to revive a huge country from the ruins during the post-war devastation.
Can neglect of work be justified?
- Shukhov, the hero of A. Solzhenitsyn’s short story “One Day of Ivan Denisovich”, engaged not in free but forced labor in the camp. Prisoners must maintain a balance in their work: do not overwork and do not swing away. There is nothing to strain - the premiums will not be given, but to take off - time goes on for a long time and the soldering can be cut even more. Prisoners might be dismissive of their hard work, but for them it is a necessity, especially in the cold winter.
- The neglect of the work of a doctor cannot be justified. Such as in the story of M. Zoshchenko “Case history”. Doctors and sisters absolutely do not care about the sick: the hero was taken to the bath with some old woman, he was accidentally put by the window, and the dishes were washed so poorly that the narrator contracted whooping cough from a child from the neighboring department. Also from negligence, the hero’s wife was informed that he had died. It was a mistake, but how can such inaccuracies be justified?
Labor as a way of life
- For Andrei Stolz, the hero novel I.A. Goncharova "Oblomov"labor is not a duty, not a whim, it is a way of being. He constantly needs some activity, otherwise he does not feel useful. The boiling energy of Stolz gushes and spreads to everything around. And for a while he took his friend Ilya Oblomov out of his inaction. It is such people who strive for work, and not run away from it, move society forward.
- Mr. from San Francisco from the eponymous short story by I. Bunin all his life he made capital. And this is not a noble work, it is the exploitation of other people. He killed workers with harsh conditions and beggarly wages for his own luxury and wealth. For the Master, labor is not a way of life, but a necessity for the poor. But what gave him wealth? When the hero died, he was practically thrown out of a posh hotel and sent his body in a box from under the lemonade. The usefulness of life is measured by the benefit for others, and the Lord never worked, and the society did not bring this benefit, so no one needs it.
